4 Specifications of Dimensions

For a comparism of different patterns and profiles under analysis the specification of the procedure and its modifications are required (fig. 15).

The first specification is the method of analysis: B for box counting, 2D for 2D variation and T for TPSA. The second is the kind of image: bin for binary images and grey for greyscale images. For the box counting and TPSA procedure the range of the scaling parameter and for the 2D variation procedure the sizes of the distance metric are required as the third specification. Since there are different modifications of the TPSA algorithm the odd, even or all environments and the taps 4, 8 or 4+8 are added in the dimension specification. Thus the dimensions of the Sierpinsky gasket in fig. 4 are given by (comp. sect. 3.1) and (comp. sect. 3.2). The dimensions of the Mandelbrot set in fig. 2 are given by (comp. 3.2) and (comp. sect. 3.3).
