2.1 Binary Images

Binary images are matrices where pixels belonging to the pattern are stored as , pixels from the background are stored as . The storage may also be vice versa. On a video screen the -pixels are rendered as black, the -pixels as white ore again vice versa. Fig. 1 shows a binary image of the Mandelbrot set.
