Color images are in general compositions of different greyscale channels. Three channels can be assigned to a red, green and blue color space respectively. Fig. 3 is a color image of the Mandelbrot set composed of three greyscale images shown in fig. 13.

Each channel can be analyzed either by the 2D variation procedure for greyscale images (see sect. 3.2) or by the TPSA procedure (see sect. 3.3). Fig. 14 shows an image analysis of the three channels in fig. 13 with the TPSA procedure.
